Well dried herbs can be putted into thick dark carton or wooden boxes, into glass jars or similar bins which are good sealed so the air, light, wetness, dust or insects could not get through. On every jar or box there should be found paper/etiquette with the herb's name on it and with the date it was picked or bought.
You shouldn't keep herbs longer than one year - you should throw it away or replace it by new one. In that way we can be sure that we have quality herbs. If the herb looks or smells good, or if it didn't change the color, you could keep it till next season. This specially applies to seeds or roots.
The above mentioned way of keeping herbs in the only one possible in the houshold. The other method is this: as soon as the herbs are picked , they would be subject of hot alcohol steam effect, and then it should be dried with hot air. This is how many bacteries, that could be found on and into the herb tissue, could be destroyed. The herbs prepared on this way have greater curing effect. Yet, this method is better to be done by pharmacists or experienced herbalists.
